NIGERIA – PROTEST
5th. August 2024.
Child of God, just like the president has said; that he wants to dialogue, then, I think it is indeed wise to respect him, thus, PAUSE the protest for at least some more months as suggested by some, for the purpose of dialogue, as well as to take inventory, in order to access, if what had been promised has also been implemented. My people, you know, as long as what they are demanding from us, is from a place of honesty, not evil, will not cost our souls, or our lives, then, the best way we can, we are to respect our elders, authorities, especially our president. As a result, I would suggest to those of you who read my devotionals and take what I say to heart, for you to go home my people, and open the floor for the president to dialogue with you, as you never know where change would come from.
WHY?
Okay, these are some of my reasons:
- I am not there on ground, protesting live with you all, thus, I cannot send you all out, while I am here, enjoying my dodo and ewa, watching Netflix, “while” chilling, without also accessing the situation report after a while! (Just joking with that part, yet some truth to that…).
- Too many human lives should not be lost at once, everyone person who dies for Nigeria matters, as their death must not be in vain, thus, pause, and see what happens next, besides, we are not going to use our fellow Nigerians as human shield against the security forces, or use their lives to get what we want. If people have to die, then, they will have to die, but not when it is foreseeable, that it could be prevented. Sometimes, freedom, and achieving our goals does not have to cost too many lives, especially when we can prevent those lives from being lost, and still gain victory at the end of the day.
- NIGERIA is not KENYA. Kenya is a great nation with amazing people, but Nigeria is different.
- NIGERIA is not UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. United States of America is a great nation with wonderful people, but Nigeria is different.
- What would work in Kenya or elsewhere, might not work easily in Nigeria (remember the analogy I gave last year of the Iroko tree and the Papaya tree?), thus, different approach has to be sort every now and again – If this one doesn’t work, then, you pull back, give grace for the government to also work within, while you are re-strategizing, peradventure the moment you stopped venting, they forget that you are still in pain, thus, go to sleep. Consequently, you have to help them to make it work, by taking another approach, thereby reminding them, that you are still in pain.
- You see, according to our culture, one hand washes the other – Since we want the government to go easy on us, and thus far, they did not come out against us for war like they would have done in the time past, likewise, we have to give them the time of grace, especially if they asked for it. It’s like dancing; they make their move, we make our move – They give us the next style, and we reciprocate, and little by little, we are reaching a common good ground…at least, I pray and hope it is so, amen.
- What some other countries may use a year to achieve, due to how complex Nigeria’s issue is, it could require a lot longer and also multiple trials and error to achieve, but do not lose hope, we will not give up till our beloved country is as strong as it must be – THE GIANT OF AFRICA!
- I am proud of the youth and people generally for the courage to come out and make their voices heard, and in their ways, I do believe that so far, the leaders have heard and will get back to you like they have promised.
- Although, regrettably, there has been loss of lives for which we are saddened about, and pray for the souls of those who lost their lives, and also for their struggle for a better Nigeria not to be in vain – May their souls rest in peace, amen.
- Furthermore, I must commend both the peaceful protesters and the security forces for handling this protest better than the previous ones. I understand that both sides, there is still a lot of improvement to be made, but I am optimistic that we are moving in a better direction with regards to meaningful protests, which is the fundamental human right of the citizens as long as it is not unlawfully done.
- I thank the government for giving the people the opportunity to air their grievances without shooting them en mass, like in the time past, and I would still plead with you to continue to meet them with humanity as they round up with their prostest. Little by little, we shall get there, amen.
ATTENTION: Over the next few days, I will be writing about the insight given to me by the LORD GOD with regards to this season of hardship in Nigeria, which I had already began to hint on, in my monthly devotional during the last presidential election season, as well as, the brewing ethnic tension, which must now be addressed with all seriousness, and not shoved under the carpet as if it were nothing, before it is too late – Before it is too late. Before it is too late…..
I am really proud of you all – Not those who intentionally came to cause vawulence.
Remain blessed.
Your sister
Susan.
