THE CHILDREN’S BREAD

– Weekly Devotional –

SCRIPTURE

“For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.”

James 3:16,

CHILD OF GOD, let us ponder on how ungodly envy truly is. In my opinion, envy is when you have ungodly craving, and desire for that which belongs to another person. Envy, if not confronted headlong, would always lead to other kinds of sins, in some cases, murder. God is genuine love, and He does not have any atom of envy in Him, thus, we, who belong to Him are to make sure, that we do away with such ungodly emotion. Child of God, the truth is that you are better than whatever it is, that makes you to envy another person. As human beings, I know that sometimes such feelings may come up within each and every one of us, and could be difficult to control at times, nonetheless, at such times, I want you to take a deep breath, and realize that as long as you do not act upon it, by giving in, to what the enemy of your soul wants you to do, then, it is only a feeling, and not a sin!

THE FIRST THING you have to do the moment you realize that you are struggling with envy, is to pray about it, by rebuking the spirit of envy, and ask the LORD to help you overcome such feeling that is not from Him, and bless you with what is yours, and not another’s. There are practical things that we must do, in order to help ourselves to combat such emotions, which I will be writing about in due course.

Child of God, whenever you are struggling with the feeling of envy, I want you to think about this quote below, which I have put together to help you realize, that there is an area of your life, which the very person, whom you are envious of, could also have the need to feel same towards you, therefore, LET’S ALL DO AWAY WITH ENVY! There is a lot more, that we all can accomplish together as children of God, but only without envy. I do believe that envy is really blind as it cannot see, beyond what it needs.

Kool-aid, within the context of this writing, is something that can be likened to a blessing. It is something that should be refreshing to your soul and actually makes you happy, or at least, something that alleviates your pain to some extent as opposed to not having it at all, but this can only be so, if you would see it as such, which is usually not the case in a situation where you are struggling with envy, as envy would have you only focused on that, which belongs to another!

It was because of this ungodly heart issue, that king Ahab, who allowed this ungodly emotion to make him lay all day in bed, seething with envy to such an extent, that his evil queen, who was herself, influenced by the spirit of covetousness and murder, had to step in and make him happy again, by helping him out in her usual ways of doing things – Her ways, which were by no means unknown to her husband, the king. As a child of God, we should be in the position to discern the presence of this spirit, and make it our duty to oppose it with all, that is within power, the very moment the Holy Spirit, helps us to discern it in operation within us.

It is a matter of intentionality, not to have this spirit dine and wine with us; We do not have to give it a place to rest in our lives, as it comes to destroy and not help.

I would remember on many occasions someone would tell me, “Susan, do you see, that sister this and that, has bought this, or that, although she is, or is not this and that?  I would always say to them: Ok, so what? If that’s what she wants and she can afford it, let it be!” They would always think I was just naïve, and not fun to relates to, but I prefer it that way than to be envious of another person. As a child of God, I do not believe, that the blessings of another should make us to envy them, but that, which I am rather bothered by, and which is a trigger for me, is the fact that someone, whom God has been very gracious to, although, going by who they are, would never have been blessed, begins to act as though it is all about them and not God. It bothers me even much more, when they use what they have, to oppress people who are, either better, or less than them, but who seem to be struggling.

Kool aid, within the context of this writing, can be a beautiful marriage or spouse, that God has blessed you with, but although it brings you joy, nonetheless, your attention is still divided as you have your eyes on that of another, whose marriage, or spouse may not even be as good as yours.

Kool-aid, could also be a job that you have, which is everyone’s dream, or maybe not, but nonetheless, it is a job that pays your bills and puts food on the table, yet, your eyes are fixed on another’s.

Whatever you have, which serves a godly purpose should be considered as a Kool aid, as there is someone somewhere, who would give anything to trade place with you. If you have a job that is not your dream job, then, while you are working to get a better one, hold unto it with gratitude to God for even having a job, bearing in mind, that there are too many people out there, who wouldn’t mind cleaning the streets, in order to pay their bills and feed themselves.

If God has blessed you with a gift, then, nurture and use it to glorify Him the best way you can, without allowing envy to make you seek after the gift, which He has given to another, as His gifts are according to HIS measure of Grace. Consequently, before you allow envy to make you crave for the unique gift, which God has purposely given to another, you must come to terms with the fact, that you may not have the level of grace, which God has given to that very person, which is only sufficient for them as it relates to the type and the weight of the gift, that He has given to them. Furthermore, do you know their sacrifice; If God requires from you the same Isaac He required from them, would you be willing to give it, or like the rich young ruler, would it be too hard for you to fathom, that a good God is able to ask for such deep commitment from the very ones, whom He genuinely loves?

If God has blessed you with a beautiful family, then, why should the neighbor’s Ferrari, or new vehicle be the reason why you would want to burn down your beautiful home? In most cases and not all, do you know what goes on within that Ferrari; The arguments, fights, name-callings, etc., which the couple in it are routinely engaged in, as they ride along?

If God has blessed you to be a wonderful, and peaceful person, then why should their Instagram or Fake-book profile make you cry all night long? Do you know how many calories that they have to count each time they want to eat anything? Do you know how many hours they spend working on their bodies, driving in and out of sports studios? You do not do any of these and many other things which they do, in order to look the way they do, neither would you even want to, if such were offered, nor suggested to you. Yet, God has blessed you to be happy, wonderful, beautiful, handsome, eat what you want, and still remain healthy – All these, without stressing! If you have to do all the things, that the people you envy do on a daily basis, just in order to maintain that body, you could probably end up on a stretcher, heading for the E.R! So, child of God, something always has to give, thus, be content with what God has given to you, and by so doing, in due course, He will add more to you, but till then, let your eyes be fixed on your Kool aid, as you enjoy it with a genuine smile!

VISION OF THE FOOTBALL SUPERSTAR

There is this world-renowned soccer-player, whom God was talking to me about some years ago. The Lord showed me that he was living a secret life; A double life, one which God does not approve of. In this vision, as I stood observing his spirit in a very compromised situation, which is completely opposite of what he is presenting to the world, I called out to him in the spirit realm- LOL!  I said, “…, is this truly you? Wow, so this is what you are up to? So, this is who you are, right?” As he looked down and saw me observing and reprimanding him, he became so furious that I saw him, and started pursuing me in hot anger- child of God, I ran, but screaming at him: I will tell on you!!!

In the physical realm, I do watch him, and really pray for him to repent and come out of such ungodly lifestyle. I see how he has used money, and fame to build a very high wall around himself, which he believes to be too high for anyone to scale over to see, or know his well-guarded secret. He has succeeded in using his money, position, and fame, to so organize his life in such a way, that he is able to hide the truth about his alternative lifestyle. For me, as someone, whom God has called into the deliverance ministry (deliverer), the sad aspect of this is, that given the state of his soul, he would have been better off without the money, position and fame, which is now like an evil shield he has erected around himself, which makes it difficult for him to see, that he is naked and not clothed, poor and not rich. He has profited, by gaining the whole world of fame, money, and titles, but he no longer has his soul, and through all these, which he has acquired, the enemy of his soul, is helping him to use them to safeguard him from being pulled out of where he has been bound – The alternative lifestyle. He has it so perfectly guarded, that when I observe how deceptive he has managed to organize his life in the physical realm, it just blows my human mind!

Why was he pursuing me with such rage in the spirit realm? It is because, he would rather go all out to kill anyone who would reveal his alternative-lifestyle, than to have it exposed as it would ruin the image, that he has been presenting to his fans and the public. I do believe that the moment he is done with his professional football career, he would be willing to open up about himself. Well, I pray for him to come to a place where he sees and understands, that God Almighty did not create him to be that man that is in hiding. If God created you like that, then, there is no reason why you should have the need to hide it in the first place – It is not too late to give up on something that is not godly.

Why did it even cross my mind to incorporate this vision into this devotional about envy? Because many men are envious of him for his money, fame, looks, and the beautiful women, but unknown to them, those are his sweetener for his bitter drink. The men who are feeling envy towards him are not dealing with the fear he deals with on a constant basis; Fear to be found out. These men are drinking their Kool aid, with frowns on their faces, while envying him, for the things, that he would wish that he could do without, just to live like those who envy him; Without the fear of the paparazzi, and nosey fans catching him in a situation, that his signature does not represent!

I am not telling on you, football superstar – The Holy Spirit, reveals to redeem the redeemable; Jesus loves us and died for us; But we must accept Him and repent of our sins.
